A romantic Dolomites elopement story with Tayla & Matt

Some love stories deserve to be told more than once.

For Tayla and Matt, their wedding in Australia was only the beginning. One year later, fate placed us all in Italy at the same time and suddenly, the idea of capturing their love again, this time in the heart of the Dolomites, felt inevitable.

What followed was a deeply romantic vow renewal at Tre Cime di Lavaredo, unfolding across sunset and sunrise in one of the most dramatic mountain landscapes in Europe (and the world!).

Why Tayla & Matt chose the Dolomites for their vow renewal

An adventurous Australian couple at heart, Tayla and Matt are drawn to hiking, nature, and unforgettable food and wine, making Italy the perfect place for their honeymoon.

The Dolomites had long been a dream destination. With their towering limestone peaks, sweeping alpine views, and ever-changing light, these mountains feel almost unreal. For couples craving something intimate yet epic, a Dolomites elopement offers the kind of magic that can’t be recreated anywhere else.

Tre Cime di Lavaredo stood out immediately: iconic, dramatic, and powerful, a place where love feels small in the best possible way.

Reading love letters under the glowing mountains

We chose to split their experience across sunset and sunrise, allowing us to fully embrace the landscape and create a story that unfolded slowly and intentionally with the most beautiful lighting.

Their sunset vow renewal took place in a quiet, private area near Tre Cime. A few hikers passed earlier in the evening, but as the sun dipped lower, the trails emptied. By golden hour, it felt as though we had the entire mountain range to ourselves.

Tayla and Matt shared champagne, read handwritten love letters, and stood wrapped in the stillness of the Dolomites as the sun illuminated the peaks in warm, glowing tones. Afterward, we explored the surrounding area, chasing light as it danced across the mountains, cinematic, soft, and deeply romantic.

This location was an easy 30-minute walk on a flat track, making it accessible while still feeling wildly remote.

Sunrise and some of the best views in the world

The next morning began in the dark. We made our way up the mountain under clear night skies.

The air was crisp and cold, September reminding us that autumn was close. Before the sun appeared, the landscape slowly turned pink, the peaks blushing in soft pastel tones. Then, as the sun crested the horizon, everything shifted to gold.

This sunrise location required a 30-minute uphill hike, following a track that runs along a cliff face — not for the faint of heart, but undeniably rewarding! The effort made the moment feel earned, intimate, and unforgettable.

Sunrise at Tre Cime is quiet in a way that stays with you. The mountains don’t just surround you, they hold you.

What they wore: timeless style in the mountains

Matt wore a stunning cream suit, and honestly — grooms in cream deserve more love. In dramatic, busy landscapes like the Dolomites, lighter tones allow grooms to stand out just as much as the bride, creating beautifully balanced imagery.

Tayla wore a breathtaking floral detail dress that moved effortlessly with the mountain breeze, elegant yet perfectly suited for the environment. Together, their looks felt timeless, and completely at home in the alpine setting.

Planning a Tre Cime elopement: what couples should know

We were there in September, which is one of the best months for a Dolomites elopement. The weather was sunny and clear — though just days before, the mountains disappeared into cloud. Timing and flexibility are everything here.

One important thing to note: car access to Tre Cime requires advance booking, and spots fill quickly during peak season. Choosing your location early is essential to securing your dream experience.

For Tayla and Matt, we provided:

  • Full planning support
  • Location scouting
  • Timeline guidance
  • Photo + video coverage

We carefully selected locations that suited their personalities while showcasing the most dramatic mountain views possible, because a vow renewal should feel as intentional as the love it celebrates.
