When it comes to unforgettable elopement experiences, Jojo and Matt’s Iceland adventure truly sets the bar high. Their 2 day adventure was a beautiful blend of intimate moments and awe-inspiring landscapes, making for a wedding celebration that was nothing short of magical.

Jojo and Matt had always dreamed of an intimate wedding experience, so when the chance to travel from America to Iceland arose, they knew they had to seize it! They envisioned a day that was epic, romantic, and uniquely theirs—a true “just us” adventure.

A Cozy Beginning

Their adventure began in the most serene way possible—with a slow, intimate morning. Picture this: Jojo and Matt cuddled in bed, sharing quiet moments and savouring their coffee. At the core of their relationship is incredibly intimate and affectionate, so when we suggested a morning cuddling in bed to capture this part of their relationship they loved the idea! This gentle start set the tone for a day filled with emotional depth and heartfelt connection.

Our Favourite Iceland Accommodation For Elopements

Now we cannot talk about Jojo and Matt’s elopement without mentioning their INCREDIBLE accommodation! They got ready in Panorama Glass Lodge, a stunning glass hotel that has multiple cabins around Iceland where you can fall asleep watching the northern lights, stargazing, soaking in the hot tub and being surrounded by the remote Icelandic landscapes.

Getting Ready

After their intimate morning, Jojo and Matt took it in turns getting dressed for their elopement, each hiding so that they couldn’t see one another. While getting ready, they wrote their vows into their vow books. This is one of our favourite getting ready moments to capture as it is an incredibly beautiful storytelling tool, especially for video.

A Heartfelt First Look

Once they were ready, the couple shared an incredibly sweet first look that perfectly captured the essence of their love. My favourite moment was seeing Matt’s face when he saw Jojo for the first time. The anticipation and joy when they saw each other for the first time was so special and having that moment on video is so incredible!

Vows Beneath the Waterfall

Now is it an Iceland elopement if you don’t visit a waterfall? We spent hours researching and finding this gorgeous hidden gem to ensure Jojo and Matt had an intimate ceremony, free from hoards of crowds that are common at the big popular waterfalls in Iceland, especially in summer.

Jojo and Matt exchanged their vows beneath this majestic waterfall with no one else around. Surrounded by the cascading water and lush landscape, their vows were truly unforgettable! The sweetest moment was at the end of their ceremony when they said “we did it” and jumped up and down with excitement!

After their ceremony, we headed to one of the most popular waterfalls for sunset portraits and it was so insanely beautiful!

Day 2: Exploring Iceland’s Wonders

Their adventure continued the following day as they explored Iceland’s stunning landscapes. From the icy expanse of a glacier to the otherworldly mountains that seemed to rise from another planet, every location was a testament to Iceland’s unique and dramatic beauty.

S’mores in Icelands Remote Landscapes

After exploring the landscapes and glacier, Jojo and Matt indulged in a classic treat from home: s’mores. It was so cute (and delicious) incorporating this personalise detail into their day! And Linden and I loved trying s’mores for the first time. It felt like we had all known each other for years as we ate s’mores shared stories and got to know one another.

Iceland Black Sand Beach Elopement Portraits

Their adventure finished with a mesmerising sunset at the famous Black Beach in Vik. The dramatic black sands and the setting sun provided a stunning backdrop for their final moments of the day. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the couple was enveloped in the serene beauty of the Icelandic landscape, creating memories that will be cherished forever.

Jojo and Matt’s Iceland adventure was a whirlwind of enchantment, filled with intimate moments and grand experiences. Their journey through Iceland’s stunning landscapes, combined with their deep connection and heartfelt vows, made for a truly magical elopement.
