Sault Daylesford is a picturesque venue that’s just a stone’s throw away from Hepburn Regional Park and the heart of Daylesford township. Sault Estate, named by the original owners, is an apt name for the small French township known for its lavender.
Surrounded by expansive nature and filled with an abundance of love and knowledge, I had the privilege of shooting Lilin and Ben’s intimate ceremony at Sault’s perfect little wedding chapel.
Our day commenced at the charming Poet’s Lodge in Daylesford, where our couple got ready amidst lush hydrangeas and overhanging ferns. With a bright, shining sun and clear blue skies, it was the perfect weather to say, “I do.”
Romance was in the air, and you could truly feel it come alive when these two lovebirds shared their first look. Lilin made her grand entrance on the beautiful spiral staircase, and I think the look on Ben’s face says it all. (If you’re contemplating having a first look yourself, you should check out my blog here.)
And what’s even more incredible is that Lilin made her wedding dress herself! From the sheer sleeves to the intricate bodice detailing, it was entirely created by her own hands. Everything was woven together with love, and it truly was a masterpiece to see in person.
Wandering through the garden of Poet’s Lodge, we had some time to capture these enchanting couples’ portraits. These moments are always so special and genuine, and you can really see the love and adoration felt and shared by these two. It’s also a really nice way to have some time to be present with your partner and absorb some of the excitement and anticipation!
Then it was time to head over to the gorgeous Sault! And can I say that photos don’t do this incredible venue justice. From sprawling mountain views to a sea of lavender fields and an expansive estate, you are spoiled with options, and everything is handled with great detail and care. And fear not—while the lavender is in full bloom from November to March, the estate is still brimming with beauty and magic in the “off” season too. (Hello, autumn and beautiful golden leaves!)
Being at the end of April, Lilin and Ben got to experience autumn in full swing, and it was incredible! With the trees bursting with vibrant yellow leaves, the ceremony spot was illuminated in beautiful golden light.
Led by her father, it was a heartwarming moment as Lilin made her way through the lavender field and down to the rustic wedding chapel where her future husband was waiting.
Surrounded by a small group of loved ones, Lilin and Ben exchanged their vows in the intimate wedding barn. This bright and airy space felt so peaceful and cosy, and it provided scenic views overlooking the lake and the warm light outside.
With smiles all around and emotions running high, it was time to cut the cake (and what a stunning cake it was!). Covered in matching florals to Lilin’s bouquet, it was a beautiful moment watching the two newlyweds embrace their bliss and eventually make their celebratory exit.
Sault provided an abundance of beautiful backdrops and photographic opportunities. From the perfectly manicured gardens to the breathtakingly beautiful homestead constructed of local Castlemaine rock, it’s also hard to resist having a romantic moment by the picturesque fountain!
“From little things, big things grow.”
Owners Jodi Flockheart and Damien Aylward have a wealth of knowledge and industry experience, having successfully hosted and run over 500 weddings since taking over the estate in 2006.
With seasonal menus, Sault successfully incorporates the finest and freshest ingredients, often from their very own garden! They also aim to source external produce from local suppliers and farms. There is endless thought, care, and love poured into every element of this thriving estate. No detail is spared, and it shines through to create a memorable and magical experience for all involved!
If you’re searching for something wondrous, romantic, and straight-up whimsical, Sault should definitely be on your check-out list!
