Mount Hotham Engagement Photoshoot

Tahlia and James embarked on a magical engagement session in the breathtaking Mount Hotham region. When they came to me saying they wanting a mountain adventure, I knew the perfect spot for their shoot! Linden and I are MASSIVE mountain people so we are always keen to road trip to the alpine region to do a photoshoot. The stunning backdrop of the mountain range set the stage for an unforgettable day, filled with love, adventure, and a touch of winter magic!

A Heartfelt Surprise on the Mountain

One of the most touching moments of the session was when Tahlia surprised James with a heartfelt love letter. On top of the mountain, amidst the expansive views, she presented him with a beautifully written note about their upcoming elopement in Iceland – you can check out their Iceland Elopement HERE. The gesture was incredibly personal and added a layer of intimacy to their engagement shoot, capturing the essence of their deep connection. We always encourage couples to read letters, especially if they are getting a video, as it adds so much storytelling and emotion!

Including Fun Activities

On top of reading love letters, Tahlia and James wanted to include something unique and fun in their shoot and came up with the idea of flying a kite! It’s so much fun seeing couples personalise their photos and bring activity ideas to the shoot so that their photos are meaningful and full of storytelling, instead of just posing in a beautiful location. It is also a great idea for couples that are a little worried about photos and concerned that they will feel awkward. If you bring something to do it will take your mind off the photos and help create candid, natural moments of you having fun with the love of your life! I always say, when the experience is amazing, the photos are amazing!

Moody Fog and Dramatic Views

Towards the end of our shoot, the weather decided to get super dramatic and fun! The fog rolled in, enveloping the mountains in a mystical, moody haze. This natural phenomenon created a stunning and atmospheric setting, enhancing the already magical ambiance of the day. The contrast between the foggy scenes and the rugged mountain views made for some truly memorable and dramatic photos!

A Surprise Snowy Morning

The enchantment didn’t end with the fog. The following morning, we were greeted with a fresh blanket of snow that had fallen overnight. Seizing the opportunity, we spent an extra 10 minutes capturing Tahlia and James in a winter wonderland. The snowy scenes were a playful and unexpected addition, bringing a touch of winter magic to their engagement session.
